1pm - Age 14-17 - Youth Art Camp/Exhibit/Award Ceremony

The February Youth Art Camp will be a mixed media project consisting of Acrylic Painting and Embroidery with Yarn, Embroidery Thread & Seed Beads on a square canvas. Canvases will be different sizes based on age groups. Artists will choose their own subject. Projects will be left behind and set up on the Members table on Saturday to be voted on by walk-in guests, other artists in the camp and their family members. Winners of 1st, 2nd, & 3rd will be contacted Saturday night by text but not told what place they got. Everyone is welcome to come to the Award Ceremony from 1pm-1:30pm on Sunday. Winners of each age group will be awarder their prizes and photographed together holding their ribbons and art projects. Other artists can pick up their projects anytime Sunday between 10am-1:30pm.

Why an Award Ceremony?

Our goal with including an Award Ceremony is to:

Validate Creative Effort: Awards acknowledge the time, dedication, and skill development (e.g., fine motor skills, technique) invested by participants.

Inspire Continued Growth: Public recognition encourages children to pursue future creative endeavors and reinforces a lifelong appreciation for the arts. Participants that didn't win will be exposed to others creative tecniques and be inspired.

Boost Self-Esteem and Confidence: Recognizing, exhibiting, and rewarding children's work validates their artistic voice, fostering pride and self-worth.

Encourage Social and Emotional Growth: Celebrations help children develop social skills by sharing their accomplishments, while recognizing effort reinforces resilience and a positive mindset.

Build a Sense of Community: The ceremony brings together peers, staff, and families, fostering a supportive environment that encourages further artistic engagement.

Highlight Development: These events often showcase skills learned beyond art, such as problem-solving, collaboration, and critical thinking, which are valuable in academic settings.

10am-5:30pm Art Exhibit/Voting - All projects will be set up/displayed downstairs on the members table and voted on

Sunday

10am-1:30pm Project Pick Up - Everyone but the winners of each age group can pick up during this time

1pm-1:30pm Award Ceremony - 1st, 2nd & 3rd for each age group will get a Ribbon and a Free Studio Fee
